 Description:

HR is the new marketing.”  It’s getting to be a fairly common topic these days, at least in some circles.  In fact, if you do an internet search on that phrase, you’ll uncover numerous articles on the topic.

Traditionally, HR is the keeper of the corporate culture and owner of the internal brand messaging, while Marketing oversees external branding, competitive positioning and messaging strategy. However, as the two roles have evolved, the lines have blurred. Accordingly, marketing and HR professionals are discovering that working together enhances their effectiveness, while reinforcing message cohesiveness and consistency, creating better internal alignment and driving strategic change.

This joint Marketing/HR Roundtable session will offer a unique opportunity to explore how companies can benefit from this dynamic duo.  For those who have been (or have begun) collaborating, we’ll find out what that looks like in your organizations and how it’s been working.  For those not yet partnering, we’ll explore the challenges and techniques to building a partnership and aligning it to the corporate strategic objectives.

Discussion questions:

  • Are HR and Marketing aligned on the definition of your corporate values?

  • In what ways, and for what initiatives, are you working together?

  • In what ways has this partnership been successful?

  • What particular challenges or failures have you encountered? How did you address them?

  • If you aren’t partnering now, what’s getting in your way?
