A seasoned practitioner with over 25 years of experience, Richard Bechtel has a diverse knowledge base that spans organizational dynamics, strategic and business planning, corporate positioning, succession planning, management process improvement, market research, marketing planning, and sales management and training.
Rick served for seven years as an executive vice president and chief marketing officer in the manufacturing/ distribution sector. He also has served as vice president of public relations for a leading northwest advertising agency, and as director of business development for both a leading law firm and a large regional CPA firm.
As a consultant, Rick's practice has spanned the legal & financial services, architectural & engineering, distribution & manufacturing, nursery & horticulture, environmental, health care, insurance, construction, hospitality and real estate, industries, as well as nonprofit organizations. He has conducted executive development workshops and led advisory boards for senior corporate leaders, developed and executed strategic, business and marketing plans, installed and facilitated management committee processes, led corporate reorganizations, and provided training and guidance in strategic planning, business modeling, management process and sales and customer service. He also is one of a handful of individuals equipped to conduct and employ organizational network analysis, one of the most powerful tools to improve efficiency, strengthen performance and assure the smooth adoption of major corporate change initiatives.
Rick's work has won awards from the Public Relations Society of America, the American Hotel & Motel Association and the Legal Marketing Association. He is a graduate of Michigan State University’s doctoral program in Communication, and has taught at both the university and junior college levels. He has held leadership roles with the Greater Seattle Chamber of Commerce, Marketing Communications Executives International, the Traveler’s Aid Society, the Irrigation Association and the North American Horticulture Supply Association.
